Global Politics Summer School Cambodia

September 3 - 15, 2013 in Phnom Penh

"Top Down or Bottom Up Regional Integration? Comparing Asian and European Perspectives"

Jointly offered by the Royal University Phnom Penh (RUPP), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) at Vietnam National University Hanoi and the Center for Global Politics (CGP) at Free University Berlin

Curriculum

Asia and Europe share more than meets the eye. Apart from being affected by the same global megatrends, both have been facing similar local challenges, prompting various modes of regional cooperation. This intensive short-term program will explore policy-making within the frameworks of both ASEAN and EU as well as less prominent regional institutions in the economic, environmental and other sectors. Providing a platform for international debate, this fall school invites academics and students from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Germany to exchange their insights, ideas and views.

In 2012, particular emphasis was placed on conflict resolution and regional cooperation.

  • New Approaches to Global Politics

  • (New) Media and Politics in International Comparison

  • Vietnam as a (Regional) Security Player

  • Reconciliation Processes in Comparative Perspective

  • Mekong Module

  • European Integration and External Action

A joint certificate of participation is issued upon successful completion.
